By 2018, there’s going to be an estimated 149 million video viewers!

One way you can immediately take advantage is by shifting your mobile ad investments directly into apps. Remember the study that found the majority of time is spent in apps? The same study also found that mobile advertising spending was criminally low for most applications. Take a look:

  • Google represents 18% of time spent on mobile devices, and has 49% of the total ad spend.
  • Facebook represents 17% of time spent on mobile devices, and has 18% of the total ad spend.
  • Other applications represent 65% of time spent on mobile devices, and have 33% of the total ad spend.

Clearly, your money is best spent on mobile video advertising in apps. You’re going to have less competition for a slice of the largest pie! A good idea would be to make room for this budget by decreasing spending on Google, which has too much ad spend for the amount of time spent on it.

Another way to take advantage is by tailoring your mobile video advertising campaign towards tablet devices instead of mobile phones. The differences are subtle, but they can be effective. 

Smartphone users are on the go, so you need to get to the point without much fluff. Tablets lend themselves naturally to a richer media experience.
